Greens Decorating Contractors Ltd.

Greens Decorating Contractors Ltd is a commercial painting and decorating contractor based in Leeds, West Yorkshire. Established in 1984, it is a family run business employing over fifty time-served painters and decorators. The company operates primarily in the North of England. It holds Constructionline Gold accreditation, is a SAFEcontractor Approved contractor, and is a founding member of the Safety Scheme in Procurement (SSIP). It is a Johnstones PPG Trade Elite Partner, a member of the Painting & Decorating Association, and an ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 Registered Firm.

All operatives possess the industry standard CSCS card. Operatives are trained in the use of powered access equipment including scissor lifts, mechanical booms, cherry pickers and truck mounted equipment (IPAF), and in the erection of mobile working platforms and towers (PASMA). The company can provide DBS approved operatives who have undergone criminal background checks and operatives trained in workplace first aid. All operatives are trained regularly to identify and be aware of the dangers of asbestos.

It provides a full range of commercial painting services for both internal and external projects, including specialist and protective paints, cladding restoration, wide vinyl hanging, render and plastering. Its clients span sectors including commercial, industrial, manufacturing, retail, leisure and council. It completed the full internal and external decoration of the Manor House at Roundhay, Leeds. In 1991 it was contracted by GMI Construction to paint the main structural steel at Leeds United stadium, Elland Road.

Domestic customers commissioning bedroom makeovers, wallpaper stripping and repapering, and social housing decorating contracts feature heavily in feedback for this Morley-based contractor. Several reviewers single out named tradesmen, including one praised for treating a family home with respect while stripping old paper and repainting a children's room, and another commended for his attention to detail on a housing association property in Halifax.

Positive accounts describe reliable, respectful workers completing jobs to a high standard and within good time, with more than one customer stating they would use the firm again. Less favourable reviews raise punctuality and time management, with one client describing a lengthy delay before work started followed by extended breaks during the day. Other complaints describe painting carried out without proper preparation, including walls not sanded and ceilings not filled beforehand, alongside separate incidents of unprofessional conduct from staff while parked at client properties or nearby premises.

Feedback on this firm is mixed, with individual tradesmen named for their care and finish sitting alongside accounts of inconsistent standards on other jobs. The business operates from School Street in Morley on weekday hours only, with no weekend appointments, reflecting the split between glowing accounts of specific decorators and separate incidents raised by other households.
