Johnstone's Decorating Centre

Johnstone's Decorating Centre is part of the PPG portfolio of brands. PPG was founded in 1883 as Pittsburgh Plate Glass in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Johnstone's Trade has had a presence in the UK market since 1890. Johnstone's Trade specialises in trade paints, woodcare, performance coatings, external wall insulation and render systems. The company operates under the legal entity PPG Architectural Coatings UK Limited.

Shoppers visiting for decorating supplies in Peterborough encounter a paint shop that a handful of customers describe as particularly well stocked, with a range of brands on the shelves and staff who take time to match a product to the job at hand. A number of reviews mention the knowledge and patience of the team behind the counter, including advice on mixing an oil-based colour and guidance for a non-decorator choosing a brilliant white for radiators, where a member of staff suggested a trade eggshell that covered well.

Helpfulness runs through the accounts, whether the task is finding the right item or simply asking for direction, and the same courtesy is noted across different visits. Value is a point that comes up often, with prices described as reasonable for the quality of goods supplied.

Customers also comment on the volume of stock available and the presence of recognised brands, which makes a single trip sufficient for many projects. Service is described as prompt and attentive, with requests handled without fuss, and the overall impression is of an outlet where practical advice is given freely. The paint mixing counter and the breadth of decorating materials feature in several accounts of satisfactory visits.
